If you are on the look out for the cheapest English countries to visit then this article is for you.

There is a lot to be done when you visit a country. It ranges from visiting tourist attractions, to enjoying local dishes, and from embellishing in local traditions to taking photos. Similarly language is a thing i.e. it can be fan learning the local dialects.

That said, it does not have to be forced onto people what they get to do. And being that there are whole countries where English is not spoken at all, it is easy to see how someone will get frustrated as they try to get about even if everything else about a particular nation is in fact perfect.

Today we will therefore explore some of the most magnificent cheap English speaking countries to visit. The list has seven of the best cheap locations to travel in all parts of the world, Caribbean, Africa, Europe etc.

To give you a hint of what it is that you should expect, I equally share about some of the top spectacular things to look out for when you finally make up your mind about which one of them you will be traveling too. Have fun.

1. Belize

People tend to mistake Mexico to be the cradle of Mayan civilization but that is not the case actually. It is more like the country is the most developed for the ones where this vibrant culture once thrived. Belize on the other hand, is the place where all the action happened at the height of Mayan glory.

On top of the wonder that this history brings with it, the country is located in the tropics with very warm weather and beach waters to explore that you should not miss it. And as is our most important theme here, the official language of Belize is English.

If you are into nature, then you will like to know that Belize is home to the only Jaguar reserve in the world (Cockscomb Wildlife Sanctuary). With up to 200 of these animals, Cockscomb has monkeys and tapirs as well.

As far as culture goes, there are several caves for you to try out. Why caves? Because rather than to the wide spread notion of the afterlife being a different realm altogether, in Mayan culture it is said that ancestors inhabit caves instead.

Barton Creek Cave is one of the most famous of these thanks to the waters in its neighborhood, as well as its pottery and jewelry etc.

Lookout for Tikal too which is the UNESCO heritage site that doubles as the location where Star Wars IV (A New Hope) was filmed.

2. Ghana

Located in West Africa, Ghana is one of the most inexpensive countries to travel to and equally has its official language as English. It is also one of Africa’s most developed countries so a visit their benefits from the increasingly modern amenities there whilst allowing you access to a different way of life and magnificent attractions at the same time.

Starting with culture, attending the Akwasidae festival in Kumasi will grant you rare access to the deep history of a Kingdom revered not only in the region but also across the continent going as far back as the times of precolonial Africa. I am talking about Ashanti.

The festival that happens every forty two days involves the King’s chiefs reporting back to him in a function where lots of foods and drinks are served. Before you ask, members of the public are welcome to join in.

Now to the wilderness; Ankasa Nature Reserve has you covered. This forest is the true embodiment of diversity both in regards to the greenery itself as well as the animals. The plant life there includes; orchids, ferns, mangrove etc. while the walking creatures there are; elephants, reptiles, chimpanzees, and antelopes among others.

That is one hundred plus things to explore for the price of one.

If you want something more physical instead, then the Volta region is your place to be. With a mountainous landscape, nothing could be better for hiking. Mount Afadjato which is 2,903ft has the highest peak.

Climbing it means having to support yourself with boulders somewhere in the journey, taking off breaks for a meal… but it all pays off in the end.

3. Ireland

Probably a little more expensive than the rest of the countries on this list of cheap countries to visit, Ireland is still rather cheap if compared to some of the high end tourist destinations. And, it is totally worth it as we will see.

On top of interacting with a culture that provides an interesting dynamic to the west as is thanks to the blunt honesty of its people, visiting the country will live you with lots of memories too.

First, is the place that has been named as a World’s Leading Tourist Attraction by the World Travel Awards– Titanic Belfast.

As you may probably know already, or can guess at least, this is the site that was setup in homage of the great tragedy that happened with the sinking of the Titanic ship.

Several artifacts from the incident are on display there and there added to them are experiences like underwater cinema.

Keeping with the theme of beauty coming out of the unexpected, the Giant’s Causeway which is a scenery of hexagonal columns that science believes were a result of volcanic eruption as early as 60 million years ago, are another marvel to checkout.

If you are a little edgy, then you can tap into the oral traditions that surround this physical feature too. The Giant’s Causeway is designated a UNESCO world heritage site.

Okay, I could not afford to go without mentioning the Guinness storehouse in Dublin.

4. Jamaica

Probably one of the most famous nations in the Caribbean, Jamaica is good for all the things known about these locations e.g. warm climate and endless beach experiences but also crucially for its more relaxed and welcoming lifestyle which is what every tourist looks out for.

If at all you are a James Bond fan, then going to the country will bring extra joy. This is because it is there that the author of the novels Ian Flemming formerly resided.

His house has now been turned into a hotel, GoldenEye, where viewers of the film can get to have a rare opportunity of spending time in a place that a person they owe so much once inhabited.

Then there is the Dunn River Falls. A 600-foot waterfall that provides the rare experience of climbing from its feet to top with a reward of having a panoramic view of the beauty in its surroundings and how it pours into the Carribean Sea upon the finish.

Again, true to the life of openness, Jamaica’s Appleton Estate is one of the best places to be if you want to tap into what is the country’s culture with brewing rum. There you will be briefed about the long history of the trade, have a glimpse of how rum is in fact made and of course, taste some of it if you wish.

5. Barbados

This is another Caribbean country on our best budget travel destinations where English is spoken and with a very low cost of living. This in turn means that you will have lots of fun while there but spend less. The activities to look out for include visiting caves like Harrison’s where the experience is taken to another level thanks to the fact that you do so while riding an underground tram.

Others are; swimming with turtles at Carlisle bay and of course the many incredible hotels such as Shark Hole.

6. South Africa

English is one of the official languages of the country and it is widely spoken in urban areas such as Johannesburg and Cape Town. South Africa of course, is the birth place of the iconic Nelson Mandela so you can be sure to visit the many historical places where he spent his life.

A prominent one is Robben Island where he was incarcerated for eighteen years.

The country is adorned with nature too including the famous Table Mountain that gets its name from its unusually flat top as well as Kruger National park which is host to among others, lions, leopards, and elephants.

7. Malta

One of Malta’s official languages is Maltese. The second one? You guessed it, English. Kudos to this country first of all, for its tourist friendly infrastructure. Bus Wi-Fi is one of them and then the affordable but very good hotels are another e.g. the Londoner.

There is lots of sea fish in this country too so if you are a fan, jump on the next plane. To the attractions themselves, the country’s Barrakka Gardens which was first cultivated in 1600 is something to checkout. As a matter of fact, several scenes from Game of Thrones were shot there.
